The Progressive IMS will be in Dallas, TX, from January 04 thru 06, 2019! As always Margaret and I will be attending and are looking forward to seeing the new bikes that manufacturers will be rolling out for 2019.
Motorcycle Manufacturers At The Show
It’s always exciting to talk to the reps about what's new and changed on their bikes for new year rollouts. We often reminisce about the classic bikes and naturally love to see the bikes that led the industry to where it is today. I get it. Don’t lose the importance of history, don’t forget where we came from. If you have never watched Harley and the Davidson’s, then it’s something you should make time to see because its stories these inspire the heritage of motorcycling and push the industry to continue.
Ultra Motorcycle Company
A couple of months back, I talked with Spencer from Ultra Motorcycle Company. We had a fantastic conversation about custom motorcycles and the history of how he built his company. Spencer reminds me of what the giant manufacturers probably went through while evolving into what they are today. The growing pains, personal oversight, marketing, engineering innovations, unique styling, customer service, and looking towards the future as to what it holds for his motorcycles.
He custom builds motorcycles, no two are alike, and by cornering this niche, he has built a wonderful motorcycle manufacturing business and sells around 500 units a year. That’s impressive! He has outlived American IronHorse, which went out of business in 2008, Buell, which went out of business in 2015, and even Victory, which stopped producing motorcycles in 2017.
Dreams and perseverance like Spencer’s keep the motorcycle industry moving forward and full of individualized choices available for riders. If you want the custom in motorcycles, you must visit his site. Below is one of the beautiful motorcycles he builds.
What The IMS Has To Offer
The Progressive IMS explores the future of motorcycles. This is where new technologies and engineering advancements are shown. The show not only advertises what you can purchase for the new season, but it also peeks into concept motorcycles of the future. Yup, the future. I know there are a lot of hard-line riders opposed to where motorcycle technology is heading. I, however, enjoy both the classic, modern, and everything in between. If you want a window into the motorcycle future, then the Progressive IMS is a great show to attend.
