It’s that time again! Time to browse new bikes, time to see concept motorcycles, time to browse new gear, time to see the latest in motorcycle accessories, time to see the shows, time to listen to the guest speakers! All this in two weeks at the Progressive IMS in Dallas, TX.
Progressive IMS Has Some Class
Margaret and I thoroughly enjoy the Progressive IMS every year. It differs from your typical run-of-the-mill, churned-out, cookie-cutter rallies that attract riders by the thousands for the scantily clad women, booze, and bands. This is because it has the element of class. It’s made up of all of the main motorcycle manufacturers, quite a few smaller manufacturers that are entering the motorcycle market, and motorcycle accessory manufacturers like Vance & Hines, Arlen Ness, Michelin, etc. who bring their latest products.
Variety Of Riding Styles
Every year local vintage motorcycle clubs bring in their restored or partially restored bikes for us to enjoy seeing and remember motorcycling days past. There is also a custom motorcycle show where you can vote on your favorite build-out. It is a motorcycle show that brings together many aspects of motorcycling. Motocross, Supercross, Super Moto, Enduro, Cross Country, Street racing, Street Cruising, Touring, Trial Riding, Motorcycle Grand Prix, or Road racing in general. It highlights the works of professional engineers and their designs to create that which we will be riding in the future. It brings together legacy, the here and now, and the future of the Motorsport. Here you can find it all.
From February 2, 2018, through February 4, 2018, the IMS will be live in Dallas, TX. For us it's about an hour away but many come from all over for the event. I am more excited this year than in the past for a couple of reasons. If you follow Ride it Wrench it on YouTube you may have noticed over the last year the quality and sound of our videos have improved significantly. This was due to a new camera and mic setup we purchased, along with some kewl backdrop modifications for our wrenching videos.
Impressed With The New Camera
I’ve been using the new camera for wrenching videos throughout 2017 but we tried it for the first time at a bike event during Christmas at the Wise County Toy Run. I was very impressed with the results and am excited to try it out at the 2018 Progressive IMS. Also this year I was awarded a Press Pass to the show. This gives early access and 3 full days to cover the event. I was excited that the organizers found my content valuable enough to issue me a pass.
So there you go! Say hello if you see me and have a great time at the show!
