    Ride It Wrench It Returns

May 14, 2022 by Ride It Wrench It Leave a Comment

It's been two years since I've uploaded any content. There were many reasons for not doing so, which I will cover later.

    My New 2022 FLHXS

10 months ago, we sold both bikes. At that time, we had no plans of riding again. I couldn't do it and finally broke down and purchased a new 2022 Street Glide Special at Fort Worth Harley Davidson. Upon entering the dealership, this motorcycle was on the front display. Initially, there was no appeal to it when my wife pointed it out. I had never owned a red motorcycle. As we continued browsing the inventory, the red FLHXS continued to catch my eye.

    Decisions

It's not always easy to make a large financial decision and feel comfortable with it. I was seriously considering the Electra Glide. It is a stripped-down version of the Street glide. It is also 10K less. As we talked, Margaret convinced me to get what I wanted instead of letting the cost be the deciding factor. I really liked the red FLHXS, and it was quite different from any other colors of motorcycles I've ever had in the past.

    Final Decision

As most readers know, the process begins with a credit check to determine the interest and, finally, your monthly payment. As we waited for that process to move, we easily arrived at a payment amount that we would be comfortable with. When the salesman came back with the payment options, it was only $8 over what we had discussed. You can't complain about that! We agreed to it they put the sold tag on the bike.

    Picking The Harley Up

I didn't take it home the same day. It was late in the evening, and I didn't want to stay there late. I also didn't want the staff to have to stay late just to take it home the same day. We came back the following morning to finalize the sale. I had to get a bit of gear as well. I had gotten rid of my old helmet because I had dropped it a couple of times and was afraid of the possibility of micro-fractures. The motorcycle went to the service center for the initial service they perform from a sale, and within an hour, it was ready to ride home.

    Riding The New Bike Home

The motorcycle performed well as expected. It has quite a bit more torque than my previous FLHXS. It is a 114cu engine vs the 103cu engine in the 2015 FLHXS I had previously. It does not fit ergonomically, so modifications will need to be made for comfort. That is also to be expected. I have to wait to see my cardiologist before riding it, so it will stay garaged for now. I will be making more videos using this motorcycle which will be more relevant because of the year make.
